From City Hall
3-29-12 Wicks Construction will begin construction on the Jefferson Downtown Restoration project in the first week of April 2012. The project involves the removal and replacement of sidewalks, the placement of paver accents along with the installation of period lighting on the four business sides of the Square as well as the Greene County Courthouse grounds in the center of the square. The original project was planned to occur in two phases over a two year time period. The contract with Wicks Construction will have the project completed by late October 2012. In order to minimize the impact on local businesses and courthouse operations, the project has been set up in a specific sequence. Work on the intersections will begin first with one intersection being completed at a time. The sidewalk replacement will then occur on the inside of the square with one side of the square being completed at a time. Finally work will begin on the business side of the square with one side being completed before continuing to the next side. Attached is a copy of the construction sequence. Wicks first item of work will be to cut the concrete in the entire project area in preparation for future concrete removal. About the contractor: Wicks Construction has completed 12 downtown restoration projects throughout Iowa. www.wicksconstruction.com Should you have any questions please contact the City Administrator, Mike Palmer, at 386-3111.
