The City of Jefferson will begin enforcing the ordinance prohibiting the discharge of grass clippings onto the street. City crew’s estimate that grass clippings account for approximately 90% of the debris that builds up on top of the street grates and at least 50% of the debris removed from the storm sewer pipes. The municipal fine for discharging into the street is $100 for the first offense.
