COUNCIL MEETING

AUGUST 26, 2008

ABSENT: Teusch

No citizens spoke at the open forum.

On motion by Teeples second by Black, the Council approved the following consent agenda: August 12, 2008 Council Minutes; Class B Native Wine Permit Renewal for The Squirrel’s Nest Inc.; and approval of transfers for Fiscal Year End 2007-2008.

Diane Kennedy, City Clerk, presented and reviewed the Fiscal Year End 2007-2008 and July, 2008 Treasurer’s Report.

Bill Sutton, Farm Bureau representative, requested cash assistance from the city for site plan improvements at the Farm Bureau, 201 E. Harrison St. The city denied his request as they had already approved in-kind services for this project. Bill withdrew his cash assistance request.

RESOLUTION NO. 13-08
On motion by Monthei second by Figenshaw, the Council approved Resolution No. 13-08, a resolution establishing school zone and providing for permanent and part-time stop signs at intersections of Olive and Russell and Cedar and Russell Streets.

Discussion was held on the 2009-2010 Budget Process. City Administrator Palmer distributed a calendar to the Council detailing the budget process thru the budget certification date of March 16, 2009.

Mayor Berry reported the Library has met the conditions for Library Accreditation through the State of Iowa until June 30, 2011. He also reported an asphalt company will be in Greene County for a month starting September 3, 2008, and the Habitat for Humanity house basement is dug and forms are in.

City Engineer Milligan reported Holbrook Construction has finished the Vest/Wilcoxway and the Grimmell Road Water Main Projects.

City Attorney Schwarzkopf reported a resolution renaming Lincoln Court will be on the next Council Agenda.

City Administrator Palmer reported the Employee Cookout for RAGBRAI Appreciation will be October 10, 2008 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

There being no further business the Council agreed to adjourn.
